The Stories of Inspiration program has garnered an overwhelming response of incredible examples of teachers from across the country.
One such story comes from Henry Buford, Principal of Brooksville Engineering, Science, & Technology Academy:
“…Miss Archer hugged my mother and said “I’ll take him into my class and make sure that he learned how to read.” I can still remember her giving me a hug and telling me she loves me no matter what color I am. Miss Archer followed my progress throughout the years until I graduated from high school and on to college. Not only did Miss Archer ensure that I learned how to read but she inspired me to become an honor student and an athlete. It’s because of Miss Archer I gained a love for learning and attend Middle Tennessee State University where I graduated with three degrees, four endorsements, and became a teacher and later in my career a middle school principal…”

Our team is looking forward to this year’s Florida Charter School Conference in Daytona Beach, FL.  We’ll be presenting an info-packed session, “I Need a Better Facility for My School: Now What?” and streaming it live on Facebook for anyone who isn’t at this year’s event. Additionally, our team will be located at booth #400 to answer questions about working capital and facilities financing support, and passing out our free Facilities How-To Packet.

I hear it time and time again – access to adequate facilities is one of the most significant challenges charter schools face today. With more than 1 million students across the country on charter school waitlists and the fact that many charters operate in suboptimal buildings, the lack of facilities is a severe obstacle to charter growth. As a result, many charter leaders have asked us to help solve their charter school facilities problem.
In response, we have created a slew of great how-to resources on navigating the world of charter school facilities. We have an on-demand webinar on facilities financing for charter schools, a checklist for facilities planning, and a valuable infographic on what you should know about facilities financing for charters schools.
Additionally, we have created a facilities program for charter schools that can finance 100% of your total project cost. We have successfully implemented the service now with 41 schools in 11 states. These schools range in attendance from 135 to 1,400 students with educational programs that include college preparatory, art-focused, STEM schools and others. Our goal is to aid charter leaders like you, so you have available and flexible financing options to meet your school’s needs today, along with the requirements you have in the future.
If you need help with charter school facilities expansion, financing, site design and selection, or facility development, our team of experts is here to help you with resources and a free school facilities assessment. Reach out to us at growcharters@charterschoolcapital.com and we’ll see what we can do for your school.
Let the learning continue,

Happy World Teacher Day!

As we celebrate Charter School Capital’s 10th year supporting charter schools across the country and as schools enjoy World Teacher Day, we want to give recognition and thanks to the teachers that impact all our lives. So tell us who that teacher is who changed your life and inspired you to be who you are today. Submit your story here.
In the meantime, check out one of our latest submissions, by Henry Buford, Principal of Brooksville Engineering, Science, & Technology (B.E.S.T.) Academy:

“…I and several other black children were members of the first integrated elementary class in a small southern town in South Georgia. My mother gathered her things, took me by the hand, and left the room crying. As we were walking down the hallway an uninvolved teacher, Miss Archer approached my mother and asked what she okay and could she help. My mother shared with her what Miss Ware said. Miss Archer hugged my mother and said, I’ll take him into my class and make sure that he learned how to read. I can still remember her giving me a hug and telling me she loves me no matter what color I am…” Read the full story here.

Stories of inspirational teachers don’t always come from the students they affect. In fact, one such story was submitted by an executive team member at this teacher’s school. If you have a teacher that has inspired you in a big way, tell us about your story before October 31st.

Mr. Cilono had to kiss a pig because his kids achieved their academic goals.

“…He is compassionate, understanding and creative in finding solutions. He takes children in fantastic journeys, of self-awareness and success, and because of that he is my inspiration. As part of the executive team, I look up to him as a teacher and a great asset to our community.” Read the full story here.

Here at Charter School Capital, we continue to be blown away by the beautiful submissions for the Stories of Inspiration program. We’ve even had a few incredible stories from members of our own team, like this one from Maralea Lutino, Real Estate Investment Associate at Charter School Capital, about a college professor that taught her that everything she thought she knew should be questioned – including how people learn. As we celebrate Charter School Capital’s 10th year supporting charter schools across the country, we want to give recognition and thanks to the teachers that impact all our lives. So, we want to hear from you – tell us who that teacher is who changed your life and inspired you to be who you are today. Submit your story here.

“…She looked at me and I could tell she was trying not to laugh.  I almost burst into tears.  She put her hand on my shoulder and squeezed.  She said, “There is no right answer.”  She calmly laid my fears to rest and informed me that I could still write my paper, but just from a different point of view.  And just like that, she showed me that knowledge isn’t about having to prove something “right” or “wrong.”  Knowledge isn’t binary…”  Read the full story here.
