Each week, we meet with an expert to ask questions about the biggest challenges facing charter school leaders. For this episode of Tuesday Tips, Susan Yem from the Grow Schools Enrollment Marketing Team joined us to discuss writing an effective mission statement.
Here are the top three tips from the conversation, and you can watch the full video below.
- Keep it simple and achievable. A mission statement should be easy to repeat and realistic. Avoid overly lofty or flowery language that doesn’t connect to what the school actually does.
- Revisit and revise as needed. A mission statement isn’t set in stone. As schools grow and evolve, their mission should too. It’s okay to tweak or update it to reflect the needs of students better.
- Involve your community. Get input from teachers, students, and families in shaping the mission statement. Their voices can help make it meaningful and relevant to everyone in the school.
