Welcome to Tuesday Tips #51. This week, we were joined by Tabitha Martins, Maddy Marlton, and Ryan Eldridge to discuss all things back-to-school facilities.
Here are this session’s top three tips:
- Start planning early. Facilities transactions are taking longer than expected, so starting early is essential. Schools need to evaluate all options, create a budget, and set a timeline to ensure success when facing challenges like high interest rates or timing triggers.
- Adjust to growth and space needs. Flexibility in space management is key. Schools facing enrollment growth or space limitations should explore creative options like expanding facilities, adjusting existing spaces, or reevaluating the use of common areas like lunchrooms.
- Focus on long-term projections. Project your needs for the next 3-5 years, considering enrollment trends, facility demands, and financial planning. This forward-looking approach will help you stay prepared for future challenges, including regulatory changes and evolving facility requirements.
