In this episode of Tuesday Tips, Ashley MacQuarrie joined us to discuss open houses and events that drive enrollment.
Here are this session’s top 3 tips, and watch the full conversation below:
- Make open houses immersive experiences. Let families experience your school in action with student-led science demonstrations, hands-on art activities, or teacher-led classroom experiences. If live demonstrations aren’t possible, use video loops showing daily routines, transitions, and classroom activities to help families visualize their child’s experience.
- Follow up with personal touches. The most effective post-event strategy is personalized outreach. Have school leaders call attendees before and after events, send targeted emails from specific teachers based on student interests (sports coach for athletic families, art teacher for creative students), or even mail handwritten thank-you notes to stand out from automated communications.
- Shift your messaging to create urgency. During back-to-school season, move from exploratory language like “learn more” to urgent calls-to-action like “seats are filling up” and “save your spot.” Have enrollment packets ready or devices on-site for immediate applications, and always collect contact information through RSVPs to follow up even with no-shows.
